Prof. Yang Qianli, Chairman of China Satellite Conference

Ranking a Major-General,Prof. Yang Qianli acts as the vice Director of Communications department, Headquarters,  PLA . Being an academic authority in communication technology, scientific management of military communication equipment, and China satellite communications design, he plays a key role in the theory and applied research on the construction of national defense communications network, as well as the development of military communications satellite application system, meanwhile he made an important contribution for the construction of our military communications equipment and satellite communications. 

Prof. Yang has taken a series of significant positions in the field of academic including Vice Chief Engineer of Military Communications Satellite Project, member of Expert Team under the Informationization Office of the State Council, vice chairman of China Institute of Electronics，Executive Director of China Institute of Communications, Vice Director of Academic Committee, Director of National Defense Communication Technology Committee, Vice Present of  China Users Association for Satellite Communications, Broadcasting & Television，Chairman of China Satellite Applications Forum, President of China Satellite Application Conference, honorary chairman of Satellite Communications Commission of Chinese Institute of Communications, Member of Beijing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, senior member of IEEE and the executive chairman of IEEE, Beijing venue (1996-1997), and so on.

Apart from being invited to serve as Guest Professor and Doctoral tutor at more than 10 universities in China including the Beijing University, he is a senior consultant of many organizations such as China Securities Regulatory Commission, China International Engineering Consulting Corporation，and China Satellite Communications Group. 

Prof. Yang has received many awards for his contributions in developing China’s military communication equipment and military satellite communication.  Led by Prof. Yang, the project entitled Theories and Applications of National Defense Network has taken the first prize for Military Science and Technology Achievement Awards in 1997, and the second prize for Excellence Awards, the State Social Science Funding Project in 1999. The project on Researching National Defense Communications Network Construction has taken the third prize for State Science and Technology Achievement Awards in 1998.  In 2001, the Military Satellite Communications Application System Project supervised by him won has taken the first prize for Military Science and Technology Achievement Awards. 

He has also been acclaimed as the Individual of Exemplary Performance in Military Tri-star Engineering Research and Construction by the General Armament Department of PLA and National Defense Science and Technology Commission.
